The NWE has recently been in talks with the Red Wolf Alliance, Alveria, and The Democratic Republic about forming a mega-region between the four of us. Although some had objected to the idea of a merger Joseph, United Soviet states of Russian Empire (Texas), and Hulldom decided to have an open mind and listen to what the other regions had planned for the merger. A discord server with the sole purpose of facilitating the merge was created and leaders from each region joined and began to discuss different ideas and dreams of a multi-region utopia.
From the start there were many red flags that were noted by our leadership such as high regional pride on all sides, a loss of regional and cultural identity, the massive size of the region, the rationalistic tendencies in politics, and how hard the migration from member regions to the mega region would be, including accounting for membership losses. Other regions also began having inter-regional crises that began to have effects on the stability of the merge opportunity.
The region was also polled on its opinion of the merge on both Discord and Nationstates. On Discord the results were 8 in favor, 10 against, and 13 people unsure. On Nationstates the results were 13 in favor, 16 neutral, and 18 people against. On top of this the people verbally agreed and disagreed on the RMB and the Discord with a few discussions flaring up here and there. However, the majority opinion was one that was against the merge, and a big reason for that was having to move to a new region, and not stay in our current one.
Although at this time the merge has been officially cancelled and talks of a merge have subsided, there is still work to do in the NWE at this point in time. In the Senate today we have a treaty going up for vote with Enadia, and the Imperial News Network is finally open and functioning. Bietz’s NS RP is still taking applications if you’d like to snag a spot in that as well. Last but not least we will soon be having a by-election for the 11th senator spot that Carpia was kicked out of just a few days ago.
